Selangor is on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia and is bordered by Perak to the north, Pahang to the east, Negeri Sembilan to the south and the Strait of Malacca to the west. It surrounds the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, both of which were once under Selangor's sovereignty.

The state capital is Shah Alam, the first city in Selangor, and the royal capital is Klang. Another major urban centre is Petaling Jaya which was awarded city status on June 20, 2006.

Selangor is one of only two Malaysian states with more than one city the other is Sarawak. Selangor has the largest city in Malaysia and it is growing rapidly due to modernization in the Klang Valley.

Name stems from Selangor Kuala Selangor, a week on the banks of Selangor. Selangor name is blessing the river. Kuala river is called Kuala Selangor. Time immemorial it has been the habit of calling any place of the name of the river.

1.  Sepang F1 (Sepang International Circuit)

Sepang International Circuit is a motorsport race track in Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia. It is located near Kuala Lumpur International Airport, approximately 60 km south of the capital city Kuala Lumpur. It is the venue used for the Formula One Malaysian Grand Prix, A1 Grand Prix, Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix and other major motorsport events.

2.  Sunway Lagoon (Petaling Jaya)

One of the famous water park and the adjacent dry park in Asia.

3.  Batu Cave
Temple for Hindus celebrate Thaipusam festival and pilgrimages.

5.  Pulau Ketam
Pulau Ketam means Crab Island. Locates off the coast Port Klang. Its a fisherman village, seafood restaurant and having a very special viewpoint with town city where this island escape from air polutions, traffic jams, finding car parking problem.

6.  Pantai Morib and Bagan Lalang
Beach destinantion. One of the famous resort in Bagan Lalang is Sepang Gold Coast.

7.  Kuala Selangor National Park
Its a resident and migratory birds (from as far as Siberia and Northern China) and a host of other amazing wildlife.

8.  Paya Indah Wetland
Paya Indah Wetlands is a major area of ​​ecotourism in Malaysia covers an area of ​​3,100 hectares located in the district of Kuala Langat, Selangor

10. Bukit Cherakah (Shah Alam)

Historical town and former royal town for Selangor, Bukit Jugra also famous with paragliding activity.

13. Zoo Negara (Kuala Lumpur)
Managed by the Malaysian Zoological Society, a non-governmental organization established to create the first local zoo for Malaysians. Located on 110 acres (45 ha) of land in Ulu Klang, Kuala Lumpur.
